More About Me
There is nothing quite like being swept across the dance floor by a guy. I've been told I follow nicely, too.
The Twist in HS got me started. I vaguely remember the Hustle, but recall I liked it a lot. I took Arthur Murray lessons in my 20's. The Waltz, Cha-Cha and Swing are my favorites, but Rumba, Foxtrot, Tango and others are fun, too. I only know the minimum basic steps to most of them. But like I said, I can follow (and learn).
In my late 30's I discovered Contra dance (and English Country). The best parts about it are the friendly people and the fact that they always change partners so everyone learns quickly.
In my 40's I was introduced to Zydeco and had a partner who loved the One-step as well. We went to Contra dances regularly and several balls, so we had a mixed repertoire. It was wonderful! We often danced impromptu when encountering music we liked, sort of like flash dancing for two. Nothing fancy. Just fun! We took lessons in West Coast Swing - another great dance.
One thing you should know: I do not twirl more than one or two revolutions. If I do, I have to unwind, which some guys are happy to help me out with. It takes a little practice, though.
My goal is to continue to dance forever, even if just occasionally. I have so many interests, but dancing is one of my mainstays. I've never given thought to dancing competitively. My heart and soul is in the music, rhythm and oneness with my partner.
I'm Looking For
I'm looking for someone who has fun dancing and leading me in a variety of dances (but always ending with a Waltz - well, almost always). This someone has to follow the beat and be willing to try new dances and steps. An average tall, dark and handsome personality will do; but, please, no big ego. It is okay to make mistakes. What's important is the learning process, having fun, and the wonderful feeling when it all comes together!
