More About Me
. I've been dancing since I was a pre-teen. I tried videos and books for several years until I became frustrated and reached out to Arthur Murray in my hometown. I danced with them for about five years and also enjoyed several dance venues in the area including the local community college. After I joined the Navy, I spent two years at a training command with the occasional trip to Arthur Murray and Fred Astaire. Once I completed my training, I spent four years in Norfolk, VA and enjoyed dancing at many of the independent studios with an emphasis on the DVIDA method. During this time, I started the process to become an instructor and actually taught classes on my Naval Vessel with one of my friends. I recently moved back to Goose Creek for the next portion of my career and was disappointed that there are limited areas to practice or learn/teach dance in the area (unless you want to brave the traffic to downtown Charleston). I started a class at the local community center, but due to Covid, the class is on in-definite hiatus. I enjoy many dances, but my attention has been mostly on American Smooth and Rhythm and Swing variations. I have done a few other dances like Polka, Hustle, Salsa, Thriller to name a few. I've never done more than social dancing/practicing and learning, but I'd be up for competitions if I had a dedicated partner. I currently work rotating shift work, so my schedule is irregular, but I'd like to practice for a few hours every week, whether that's all on one day or spread across two or three days. Due to Covid, there aren't many places for us to meet and practice, but I have dedicated space in my house that allows for most dances and plenty of space outdoors for those dances that really travel. With the risks that come with the Covid epidemic, I'd still like to dance, but caution is required. If we do decide to practice together, we'll both need to wear masks, wash our hands/use hand sanitizer at the beginning of every practice session, and self monitor temperatures before every practice session. My workplace monitors our temperatures as we walk in every day, and we have many protective actions to stop the spread of Covid in the workplace (Plus I hear we're in the second round of vaccinations too).

I'm Looking For
. I am interested in finding a partner to practice and learn with for at least the next few months while the Covid rages on. I would be interested in potentially continuing long-term, but that's not a requirement. In the future after Covid, I'd be up for social dancing and even competitions, if our partnership works out. If you have a friend or two, I'd be up for possibly teaching/practicing with them as well. I have tons of materials for all types of dances that I accumulated through my time teaching, so we'll never be short of new things to learn and techniques to practice. I'd prefer a female partner, but, since I also need to maintain my proficiency in both following and leading, I am willing to work with either gender.
